July 17th,2009 ~ Harvest Notes

This weekend we will have:
Peas
Baby Potatoes
Baby Carrots (Bunched)
Beets (Bunched)
Green Onion
Radish
Kohlrabi
Spinach
Lettuce
Swiss Chard
Rhubarb
Herbs

We will have the same items available at the Regina Farmers Market on Saturday. Get to the RFM early (it opens at 9:30) to get the best selection as we sold out of peas on Wednesday within the first hour. If you are driving out from the city, it is often a good idea to call ahead to see if there are peas coming in from the field. They pick peas all day, however we do run out in between filling the bins and the next batch coming in from the field. Usually we can not keep up with the demand for peas, and thy are sold as on a ‘first come first serve’ basis.

Strawberry u-pick is currently booked until Aug 3rd. we will not accept any more reservations until after this date.

Regina Farmers Market 2009

We attended the RFM with veggies on Wednesday, July 15th. We will now be attending regularly each week on Wednesday and Saturday until the end of the outdoor market season.

We will post the available products here each week so that you, the shoppers know what to expect.

As always, out fresh veggies are available daily at the farm too. Sometimes the lines at the RFM get to be a bit long, so if you have the time to drive out to the farm it may be worth your time.

It was great to be back at market, although it was very cold and windy! Hopefully Saturday will be better.

2009 U-Pick Season

The Strawberry U-Pick is now open. Please call the farm, 731-3133, to arrange a date and time that you would like to come pick.

We have some 4ltr baskets available, but if you have your own 4ltr ‘ice cream’ pail that is great. We only allow pickers to use the 4ltr size so if you bring any other size you will be required to use one of our baskets.

Raspberry u-pick is still a few weeks away.

Harvest Notes ~ July 11th weekend

The phone has been ringing off the hook! When will we have veggies? Well, this weekend we will start the harvest!

It will still be a slow start. We will have radish, lettuce, spinach, green onion, baby beets, herbs, and if weather permits we will start the pea picking! I know that is what everyone is waiting for.

The on-farm store will be open from 9 to 7 on the weekend and from 9-6 during the week days for now. We will increase the hours as we have more produce available and more staff. We are also taking orders for pickling cucumbers at this time so get your order in.

Our first day back at the Regina Farmers Market will be Wednesday July 15th.

If you are driving out to the farm this weekend, please don’t forget that it is the Craven Jamboree. Traffic is not too bad, but please beware of erratic drivers on the #20 highway between Lumsden & Craven.

See you this weekend!
